- 25 years of great service Review by TheCook
About 25 years ago, I picked these exact dishes up by same maker. They have been nothing short of amazing. I use them on a daily business, mostly for microwaving but sometimes in the oven & for food storage in the refrigerator all the time. As glass dishes go, they have been very sturdy. Yes, it's possible to bash them on the edge hard enough to chip them and if you drop them on a hard floor, it's all over. But I have been clunking them around for decades and have only lost a couple sets. I still have two 20 ounce sets & two 12 ounce sets(lid & bowl/set) from 25 years ago.. The 20 ounce is about a 2 cup amount & great for reheating main course portion. The 12 ounce is more like a cup & great for heating up a portion of frozen veggies.
Besides duribility, THE GREATEST THING ABOUT THESE DISHES IS THE DESIGN. THE LID IS SHAPED SUCH THAT WHEN HEATING VEGGIES OR SIMILAR, THAT STEAM DROPS BACK INTO THE BOWL INSTEAD OF ALL OVER THE MICROWAVE FLOOR. GENIUS! Every manufacturer should copy that lip design in their lids.
They never stain & they never hold odors. I go right from the refrigerator to the microwave & I can't think of a time I ever suffered a thermal shock issue. I've had far more issues over the years with glass storage containers that come with plastic lids that can never hold up.
I'm ecstatic to find them again & of couse I'm buying more.
